November 15, 1937 – May 6, 2024
Gabriel peacefully passed away with her loving family by her side at the Thessalon Hospital. Reunited with her beloved son Albert (d.2007). Loving mother and friend to Ricky, Maxine Cowen (John) and Patty Belisle (Chris). Proud grandma of Stephanie, Christopher, Randy, Melissa, Vanessa (Ryan), and Victoria and great grandma of Koda, Ryland, Kayden, Seth, and Trip. Forever missed by her brother Garnet Schroeder (Wendy). Predeceased by her parents Albert and Louie Schroeder and her sister Gail Whalen (Raymond). Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Good friend of Leah Carson, Mary Manion and Arlene Harmon.
Gabriel was very devoted to her faith and volunteered countless hours to St. Ambrose Catholic Parish, assisting them throughout the years with whatever tasks needed to be done. She was a longtime member of the CWL and the Rebekahs. She was an avid knitter and knit many “tiny toques” for the preemie babies in the NICU at the Sault Area Hospital. She also knit baby outfits for babies in Africa. She enjoyed scrapbooking with friends. Gabriel was dependable and could be counted on to help when needed, she made many a meat pie.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at both the Blind River and Thessalon Hospitals as well as Nurse Amy.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at St. Ambrose Parish, 286 Water Street, Thessalon, on May 10, 2024, beginning at 2pm. Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery. Leah Carson officiating. Luncheon in the St. Ambrose Parish basement following interment.
