Registration is now open for Bethel Bible Chapel's Superior three-on-three basketball tournament for the first time in more than 10 years.

The event runs June 2-3 and takes place in the church parking lot on Second Line West.

The first tournament took place in 2001 and ran annually until 2011. At the height of its popularity the tournament hosted more than 100 teams, a news release said.

“We used to run the three on three tournament at our old location on McNabb Street,” said event organizer Ryan Lidstone. “We tried to continue it when we moved to our new location on Black Road, but unfortunately we didn't have the right kind of parking lot. This year, we were able to partner with Bethany Baptist and use their location.”

Entry is $80 per team, and teams can have three to four players. Players can participate in one of five youth divisions or the adult division.

“It is important to be involved in our community in a positive way,” said Lidstone. “Getting outside and being active is so important, and I think the more opportunities we give for people to do this the better. Any proceeds from the event will go to a local charity helping people that are affected by addictions.”

Teams are encouraged to register online at www.superior3on3.com. Registration closes May 31.
