Five vehicles damaged in raging truck fire (9 photos)

Nobody was hurt in the blaze

Firefighters extinguished a pickup truck on fire at the No Frills parking lot this morning, but not before the heat of the blaze damaged four adjacent parked cars, says Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services.

Platoon Chief Richard Pihlaja said the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, which was parked in a handicap spot at Joe's No Frills on Second Line, was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

"Nobody was hurt, importantly," said Pihlaja.

The burning truck was quickly extinguished by firefighters, but three SUVs and a mini van parked in adjacent spots experienced various degrees of heat damage.

"Four (vehicles) were affected besides the main vehicle," said Pihlaja

In total, four vehicles required towing from the scene.

The fire will be investigated by a fire prevention officer and police officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were on scene taking statements from witnesses.

"Nothing looks suspicious," said Pihlaja.
