The St. Basil Saints racked up 267 yards rushing to pace themselves to a 15-6 win over the Korah Colts on Saturday afternoon at Rocky DiPietro Field.

The game marked the High School Football League's senior division regular season opener for both teams.

Justin Minelli scored two touchdowns for the Saints, who led 7-0 at the half and 14-0 after three quarters, on runs of five and four yards, respectively. Steve Pandzic kicked two converts and a single point off a missed field goal.

Ben Ginter recorded Korah's lone score on an eight yard touchdown run.

Cody Reville led all rushers with 114 yards on 15 carries for the Saints while Minelli added 84 yards on 20 attempts and Steve Fantin 60 yards on eight carries. Quarterback Mike Tassone completed four of eight passes for 34 yards including two strikes to Reville for 17 yards.

Defensively for the Saints, Dan Buonomo made nine tackles and returned an interception 16 yards while Kelvin Nisbet added six tackles, Brad Boyer and Izaak Wickstrom 4.5 each and Donovan Bertolo four.

For the Colts, Mike Burmaster ran for 91 yards on 17 carries and Ginter 63 yards on 14 attempts. Ginter also caught two passes for 33 yards from quarterback Kyle Diotte, who completed three of seven passes for 50 yards.

Luke Critchley led the Colts defense with 8.5 tackles while Jeff McAllister added 7.5, Chad Turner 5.5 and Daniel Ferris 4.5. Matt Vernelli recorded an interception.
