The Calder Cup, which symbolizes American Hockey League supremacy, will be making an appearance at the Essar Centre on Aug. 5.

Former Soo Greyhounds defenceman Colin Miller, a Sault Ste. Marie native, will have the trophy on display after being a part of the AHL-champion Manchester Monarchs.

The event, which runs from 4:30 to 6 p.m., will feature picture and autograph opportunities with Miller and the trophy.

Miller scored 19 goals and 52 points in 70 regular season games with the Monarchs and added 10 points in 19 playoff games.

Miller played three seasons with the Greyhounds, serving as captain in his final season (2012-13), a season that saw him score20 goals and 55 points. He was named the recipient of the Mickey Renaud Captain’s Trophy, which is presented to the OHL captain that best exemplifies leadership on and off the ice with a passion and dedication to the game of hockey and his community that Mickey demonstrated.
