Where did Devin get those extra seven centimetres from?

A Dalhousie University student from Sault Ste. Marie stepped infield at the Canadian university track and field championships ranked thirteenth in high jump, but ended up walking away with a bronze medal.

Devin Errington only competed in the event for one year while attending high school at White Pines.

“I’ve only been training for it for three years,” said Errington, soon after his podium finish on Friday at the 2015 Canadian Inter-University Sport (CIS) Track and Field Championship in Windsor, Ontario.

Errington made a significant improvement over his former personal 2.0 metre-best in high jump, performing a 2.07 meter leap to earn his first CIS medal.

“I had so much support out here. My grandma, my grandpa, all my aunts and uncles came. My sister was right there at the sideline cheering me on,” he said, when asked where the extra seven centimetres came from?

Fellow Saulite Adam Devon, who was competing for Western University, finished eleventh with a 1.95 metre jump.

Errington competed in the same event during the 2014 CIS championship, where he finished sixth overall.
