It was a good night for a pair of area natives have earned awards while playing hockey with the Sarnia Legionnaires.

Ryan Vendramin (Sault Ste. Marie) and Davis Boyer (Thessalon) were honoured on Monday night at the Western Ontario Hockey Conference Awards banquet as members of the Legionnaires.

Vendramin was named the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League’s player of the month for February after posting nine goals and 15 points in seven games in the month. The month included a pair of four-point games.

Boyer was named to the GOJHL’s first all-star team at the banquet while also finishing as the runner-up for the league’s Most Valuable Player award.

Boyer finished the regular season with 29 goals and 44 assists, good for fourth in league scoring.

In October, Boyer set a Legionnaires record with six goals and eight points in a game on Oct. 11 against Thorold in an 11-1 win.
