OHL Roundup: Saturday night sees eight games

After nine games on Friday night, the Ontario Hockey League saw eight games on Saturday night in a busy night across the league. In Erie, Andre Burakovsky had two goals and two assist as the Erie Otters thumped the Mississauga Steelheads 7-1.

In Erie, Andre Burakovsky had two goals and two assist as the Erie Otters thumped the Mississauga Steelheads 7-1. Connor McDavid had a goal and three assists while Dane Fox added a goal and two assists. Michael Curtis chipped in with a goal and an assist.  Adam Pelech and Hayden Hodgson also scored for Erie. Austin Gerhart had the lone goal for Mississauga.

In Belleville, Spencer Watson had three goals and an assist as the Kingston Frontenacs beat the Belleville Bulls 6-4. Sam Bennett added a goal and an assist in the win. Ryan Kujawinski and Henri Ikonen also scored for Kingston while Darcy Greenaway set up two goals. Goaltender Lucas Peressini stopped 46 shots. Jake Worrad scored a pair of goals for Belleville while Scott Simmonds set up two goals. Aaron Berisha and Cameron Brace had the other goals for the Bulls.

In Peterborough, Josh Anderson scored twice and set up another goal as the London Knights beat the Peterborough Petes 4-2. Bo Horvat set up three goals for London. Alex Basso had a goal and an assist in the win while Santino Centorame also scored. Greg Betzold and Nick Ritchie scored for Peterborough while goaltender Michael Giugovaz stopped 32 shots.

In Windsor, Ben Johnson and Josh Ho-Sang had two goals each as the Windsor Spitfires doubled up the Sarnia Sting 6-3. Remy Giftopoulos had a goal and an assist for the Spitfires while Ty Bilcke also scored. Cristiano DiGiacinto and Slater Koekkoek added two assists each in the win. Goaltender Alex Fotinos made 31 saves. Anthony DeAngelo, Vladislav Kodola and Nikolay Goldobin scored for Sarnia. Brodie Barrick made 36 saves for the Sting.

In Sault Ste. Marie, Sergey Tolchinsky had a goal and three assists to lead the Soo Greyhounds to a 5-3 win over the Niagara IceDogs. Blake Speers, Andrew Fritsch and Jared McCann had a goal and an assist each for the Greyhounds while David Miller also scored. Vince Dunn, Eric Ming and Aleksander Mikulovich scored for Niagara while goaltender Brent Moran stopped 34 shots.

In Saginaw, Ken Appleby made 38 saves as the Oshawa Generals beat the Saginaw Spirit 5-2. Hunter Smith had two goals and an assist while Bradley Latour and Scott Laughton had a goal and two assists each in the win. Terry Trafford and Kristoff Kontos scored for Saginaw in the loss.

In Barrie, Darby Llewellyn scored three times as the Kitchener Rangers beat the Barrie Colts 5-3. Justin Bailey added a goal and an assist in the win while Ryan MacInnis and Logan Schmidt set up two goals each. Frank Hora also scored in the win. Andreas Athanasiou had a goal and two assists for the Colts in the loss. Zach Hall assisted on all three goals. Jake Dotchin added a goal and an assist in the loss while Aaron Ekblad also scored.

In Owen Sound, Thomas Schemitsch had the shootout winner as the Owen Sound Attack beat the Plymouth Whalers 3-2. Daniel Milne and Holden Cook had a goal and an assist each for Owen Sound in the win. Goaltender Brandon Hope stopped 33 shots. Gianluca Curcuruto and Victor Crus Rydberg had a goal and an assist each for Plymouth. Goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 46 shots.
