Greyhounds netminder named OHL player of the week

Soo Greyhounds goaltender Matt Murray was named the Ontario Hockey League Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. The Pittsburgh Penguins prospect posted a 3-0-0 record in three games last week, including a shutout over the Owen Sound Attack.

The Pittsburgh Penguins prospect posted a 3-0-0 record in three games last week, including a shutout over the Owen Sound Attack. The 19-year-old posted a goals against average of 1.62 and a save percentage of .945.

Murray opened the week with a 28-save performance in North Bay in a 5-2 win over the Battalion on Tuesday night. On Thursday, Murray stopped 26 shots for his third shutout of the season in a 3-0 win over Owen Sound. Murray then wrapped up the week with 32 saves in a 3-2 shootout win over the Peterborough Petes. Murray also stopped six of seven Petes shooters in the shootout.

Murray has posted a 12-2-0-2 record this season and currently has a league-leading 2.10 goals against average. The Thudner Bay, Ont. native also leads the OHL in save percentage with a .930 mark.
