The provincial NDP announced today that they're taking action to trim Ontarians' household costs.

Party Leader Andrea Horwath said her party will introduce a private member's bill to remove home heating costs from the provincial portion of the HST.

Newly elected Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Michael Mantha (shown) will table the measure when the legislature reconvenes next week.

Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak says he'd support the bill, which would pass with combined Tory-NDP support.

According to some estimates, if passed into law the bill would save an average family of four about $100 annually.
