City puts a million pledges of support on the college

************************* City of Sault Ste. Marie presents million dollar cheque to Sault College’s Inspiring Growth Capital Campaign SAULT STE. MARIE, ON October 20, 2011 - Following the official launch of Sault College’s Inspiring Growth capital campaign last week, Mayor Debbie Amaroso presented a cheque on behalf of the City of Sault Ste. Marie.

Jim Boniferro, Chair of the Inspiring Growth campaign, Dr. Ron Common, President of Sault College and Tyler Epp, Sault College Student Union President, accepted the million dollar cheque towards Sault College’s campus redevelopment initiatives from Sault Ste. Marie Mayor Debbie Amaroso (shown).

With a $6 million goal, the Inspiring Growth Capital Campaign will contribute to the continued transformation of the campus into a premier post-secondary institution.

The funding from the City of Sault Ste. Marie will be dispersed over a four-year period and will directly contribute to the building of a new Student Health and Wellness Centre.

This centre will support our students as they continue to grow with us and will reflect the excellence seen across the College.

“The campus redevelopment initiatives underway at Sault College are the largest capital investments ever made in the College’s 45-year history,” states Bill Durnford, Associate Director, Advancement and Alumni Relations. “Our growth would not be possible without the support of our City council and community”. The campaign centers around four cornerstones aimed at inspiring growth of students, programs, campus and community.
