Tanya Kim

Widely recognized as an anchor for CTV’s etalk, Tanya Kim is more than just one of Canada’s most familiar television personalities.

Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Tanya’s passion extends beyond entertainment and celebrity culture.

Classically trained as a pianist and dancer, this broadcast journalism student started her career at Much Music.

She then went on to become the music reporter for CTV’s The Chatroom and then special correspondent for the first two seasons of Canadian Idol.

Tanya has hosted red carpet events such as the Academy Awards, Juno Awards and Grammy Awards.

She’s also reported on entertainment news from the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games for CTV.

In 2005, TV Guide ranked Tanya second in a list of “Canada’s Top 10 newcomers on the verge of a major breakout.”

She also received two Toronto Sun Readers Choice Awards for Entertainment TV Reporter and has made special appearances in Degrassi: The Next Generation, Instant Star, Glitter and Puppets Who Kill.

Recognizing the real importance of philanthropy, Tanya supports charities that are close to her heart, including Blessings In A Backpack, CARE Canada & MusiCounts.

She travelled to Zambia in 2008 as the national spokesperson for CARE Canada and is Director of Blessings in a Backpack, a program that provides meals for school-aged children in Canada and the US.

Whether she’s covering glamourous events around the world, meeting with A-list stars, or gracing the covers of magazines, Tanya always credits her family and home as a source of pride and inspiration.

Tanya Kim is being recognized on the 2011 Sault Ste. Marie Walk of Fame for her contribution to the entertainment industry as well as her philanthropic interests.
