At least two city residents believe this afternoon's Virginia-centred earthquake extended all the way to Sault Ste. Marie.

"Just thought you should know that I felt my house shake at about 1:58 p.m. on Dryden Avenue [Wallace Terrace area]," reported loyal reader Shannon St. Jean.

Added Dan Pernokis from another part of town: "I heard the [earthquake] report on CBC at the end for their 2 p.m. news (i.e., at 2:05). When I went to tell my wife right away, she said, 'I know, I felt it. I was just going into Internet to search for it.' We went to USGS.gov, saw some reports and tried to report it ourselves, but by the time we tried to submit, the site had been overwhelmed. She said she felt it at 1:58 or so, which corresponds with the reported time. We're on Millwood Street (East End, just north of the water treatment plant). Think USGS should hire my wife as a human Richter detector! :)"
