************************* Two persons being charged with weapon and numerous drug offences resulting from search warrant

Yesterday afternoon, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police street team and the canine unit executed a controlled drug and substances warrant at 3 Campbell Avenue.

Located in the search was a two stage hydroponic marijuana growing operation with 11 plants along with 638 grams of cultivated marijuana buds.

Officers also located isopropyl alcohol and 1,210 grams of marijuana shake that were being used to make cannabis hash oil, along with 100 grams of produced cannabis hash oil.

The total street value of drugs seized is $26,365.

Further located in the search was a butterfly knife which is a prohibited weapon due to the fact it opens with centrifugal force and a .22 caliber rifle that was insecurely stored in the residence.

As a result the two persons residing at 3 Campbell Avenue, 33-year-old Christopher Derasp and 33-year-old Lisa Marie Nichols were both charged with two counts of production of a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, and one count of careless storage of a firearm.

Derasp is to appear in bail court this morning and Nichols is to attend in court on the 22nd of November.

************************* Domestic-related arrests

A 17-year-old male was arrested by officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 6:45 p.m. last evening at his residence and charged with one count of assault and one count of threatening death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 14th of October around 5:30 p.m., the accused assaulted and threatened to kill his girlfriend. The victim received non-life-threatening injuries as a result. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

A 36-year-old male was arrested at his residence yesterday afternoon by officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and charged with one count of breach of a release order. It is alleged that on the 14th of October the accused called his ex-girlfriend numerous times and harassed her. At the time he was on conditions that he not communicate with her. He is to attend in bail court this morning.

************************* Break and enters

- A residence on Wallace Terrace was entered last night at 8:14 p.m. A purse was reported stolen.

- An attempted break and enter was reported to a residence in the 100 block of Crawford Avenue.

- An attempted break and enter was reported to a residence in the 100 block of Wallace Terrace.

- An attempted break and enter was reported to a residence in the 300 block of Gillies Street.

- A residence in the 100 block of Market Street was broken into sometime over the past week. A television was reported stolen.

- A room at a lEast End hotel was entered and a television was reported stolen.
