FOCUS ON THE GAY FAMILY
******************************* Queer liberation and the Bible: An evening with James Loney
The Focus On The Gay Family committee is breaking ground yet again with an extraordinary evening of discussion about the Bible and same-sex relationships on Friday September 17, 7 p.m. at the Sault College Media Centre.
Admission is by suggested donation of $10.
Featured speaker James Loney grew up in Sault Ste. Marie and made national headlines in November 2005 when his Christian peacemaker team was kidnapped in Iraq and held for four months.
Rather than succumbing to fear after this experience, Loney has continued his work as a faith-based community worker and student of the Bible.
Mr. Loney will present an alternative reading of several well-known Biblical texts.
Using familiar passages and stories, he will invite interaction and discussion among participants.
Together we will explore ways in which the Bible might be reconciled with LGBT2SQ issues, in particular same-sex love.
You won't want to miss this extraordinary evening of dialogue.
The Focus on the Gay Family committee is a coalition supported by the local United Churches in Algoma, Algoma Pride, the United Church of Canada, CUPE, and the United Steelworkers.
