"The hottest band in the world" will play Oshawa this fall, after all.
The community that won an online contest to determine fan-routed tour locations will host KISS on October 7, media reports indicate.
A community outcry erupted yesterday after the band released its 2009 fall touring schedule and Oshawa was not included.
"After the outpouring of emotion we saw today, there was no way we could follow our original plan and make you wait until a later tour leg," band manager Doc McGhee told the Toronto Star. "You'll now be getting a special record release show. Oshawa, we promise a good time."
Yesterday Ward 2 Councillor Terry Sheehan called on local KISS supporters to post messages on the official KISS website asking them to also honour their commitment to play the Sault, which placed third in the North America-wide contest.
As SooToday.com reported last night, Ward 2 Councillor Susan Myers is calling her supporters to prayer to keep the band away from Sault Ste. Marie.
"Keep praying that the Sault is not on the KISS tour," Myers (shown) said in a message e-mailed yesterday to her core political supporters.
Myers first expressed her opposition to the band in April of this year.
"I would be sick at heart to see this kind of performance come to our city," she told SooToday.com
"Can we not offer our citizens something that is joyful and uplifting vs. sick and revolting as so clearly depicted in this YouTube video of Gene Simmons' farewell tour?"
