Meet Paul - a clean, green Liberal who doesn't throw mud

Paul Bichler says a lot of people ask him if he's going to be another blue Liberal.

"I tell them I am a new Liberal - a green Liberal," the prospective Liberal candidate tells SooToday.com "The environment is one of the key issues in this upcoming election," Bichler told us at yesterday's launch of the Sault's Shopper Loyalty Project. "I don't want to downplay health care or the economy. But we're at a critical turning point in the future of Canada and we have to endorse green initiatives."

Bichler thinks using reusable bags instead of single-use plastic bags is a good start, but we can go further.

Take laundry rooms for example.

They can be solar-powered and eco-friendly.

Bichler knows because he is owns The Eco Laundry Room in Peterborough.

It's an eco-friendly, solar-powered laundry room and, with or without Bichler as the Sault's member of parliament, he has plans to help Saultites clean our clothes with a cleaner environmental conscience.

Bichler says an Eco Laundry Room is in the works for Sault Ste. Marie.

And Bichler says he wants to run a campaign as clean as the Eco Laundry Room.

"There won't be any mud-slinging here," he said. "I have a lot of respect for Tony [Martin], his experience and the things he's done, but it's just time for a change."

"We're the ultimate choice in this election. I'd like to be representing the Sault in Ottawa."

Bichler believes he's the man to lead and represent the Sault on a federal level.

He has been to the CBC's Dragon's Den and fared well.

He and his business partner took their green laundry room idea to the Den and ended up third in Canada.

Now, he's going for first place as a green Liberal from a green Northern Ontario city.
