LAKE SUPERIOR STATE UNIVERSITY

************************* Mercury sleuths

Pat McMahon, left, with Chippewa County Haz-Mat, and Lake Superior State University Fire Science Professor Terry Heyns scope out a simulated mercury spill scene using a portable vapor analyzer.

Agencies from as far away as Ohio attended a mercury spill response workshop on LSSU's campus yesterday.

The day-long conference was sponsored by LSSU's criminal justice and fire science program, along with the Chippewa County Health Department, Chippewa County Office of Emergency Services, Michigan Department of Community Health, the U.S. EPA and Poison Control Center.
