After a year in the NHL, Danny Flynn (shown) has returned to the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Many Sault fans will recall Flynn’s years with the Greyhounds during the early 1990s.

He served as an assistant to coach Ted Nolan when the locals made three consecutive appearances in the Memorial Cup and claimed the national title in 1993.

Flynn served as the Hounds’ head coach in 1994-95 following Nolan’s departure for the NHL. After leaving the Sault, Flynn moved to the Maritimes and coached the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men for a decade.

When Nolan was named to Moncton's top coaching job in Moncton in 2005, he hired Flynn as an associate coach.

They remained together for another season when Nolan was picked to lead the Islanders prior to the 2006-07 season.

An Atlantic Canada native, Flynn left Long Island to become Moncton’s head coach and director of hockey operations.
