U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice today accused Iran and Syria of deliberately inflaming Muslim tensions over cartoons showing the Prophet Mohammad.

The controversial cartoons, published in Denmark, have sparked violent protests and attacks on diplomatic mission in Muslim countries.

"Iran and Syria have gone out of their way to inflame sentiments and to use this to their own purposes and the world ought to call them on it," Rice said today.
