WAWA – On June 1, 2015, an election committee convened to select a Detachment Commander for the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Detachment. 

Staff Sergeant Marc Loranger retired at the end of June and this process was to identify his replacement. 

The committee was composed of the Mayor of Wawa as well as members from the OPP North East Region Command Staff. 

The selection committee is pleased to announce that Staff Sergeant Megan Cavanagh has been selected to fill the position of Superior East Detachment Commander effective August 31, 2015.  

Staff Sergeant Cavanagh has 22 years of policing experience having served in general law enforcement in Prescott, Renfrew, East Region Traffic Unit, Lanark County and Bancroft. 

She was promoted to Sergeant in 2010.

“I am elated and honoured to be the Detachment Commander for Superior East OPP. I look forward to working with members of Superior East Detachment and our community partners for a focused approach to community safety and well-being,” states Staff Sergeant Megan Cavanagh.
