NEWS RELEASE
TERRY SHEEHAN, LIBERAL CANDIDATE
In a press release earlier today, local Conservative party candidate Brian Hayes suggested that the United States would not implement a "Buy American" policy because it would negatively affect its economy.
"Brian Hayes is obviously not aware of the US Department of Transportation’s Buy American policy which has a direct and negative effect on our own steel industry," says Terry Sheehan, Liberal candidate for Sault Ste. Marie and area. He goes on to say, "It is bothersome that Brian Hayes would not know about a policy that has such a direct effect on our community, because he should be lobbying against it. I am committed to working with Essar Steel Algoma and all steel manufacturers in Canada to make sure that they have access to as many markets around the world as possible."
As Member of Parliament for Sault Ste. Marie and area, Terry Sheehan will champion opportunities for local businesses and industries and pledges to be their strong voice.
Mr. Hayes' statement this morning is evidence that he does neither.
Bryan to Skip: You couldn't even do that in the U.S.
