Sault Transit will improve bus access to Industrial Park Crescent and the new St. Mary's College effective September 8.

The changes will be accommodated within the existing schedule of the North Street bus.

Currently, the closest that bus gets to Industrial Park Crescent is Great Northern Road.

Employers in the industrial park were having trouble retaining workers who didn't own vehicles, so earlier this year Ward 5 Councillors Frank Fata and Marchy Bruni pushed for direct service.

Starting September 8, North Street bus will arrive at Industrial Park Crescent at 6:15 a.m. and every half-hour after that until 7 p.m., when buses will run hourly until the last bus of the day at 11 p.m.

The new arrangement will cut 20 minutes off the return trip from St. Mary's College to the downtown terminal.

Buses from downtown will arrive at the Second Line school at 6 a.m. and every half hour after that until 7 p.m.

Hourly service will then continue until the last arriving bus at 11 p.m.

Returning downtown, buses will leave the new St. Mary's College at 18 and 48 minutes after the hour, until hourly service startts at 6:18 p.m.

Information about the route changes was provided this week to city councillors.
