Sault cop helps with luring investigation. Arrest ensues

GRAND BEND - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (Project “P”) and Lambton OPP have arrested and charged a Grand Bend man following a two week internet luring investigation.

In June 2015, the accused was on an internet chat site and communicated with a police officer acting in an undercover capacity from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

The accused chatted with the officer sexual purposes.

The matter was turned over to the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit for further investigation.

On July 3, 2015 members of the O.P.P. Child Sexual Exploitation Unit,  the OPP Technical Crime Unit and the Lambton OPP executed a search warrant at a Grand Bend residence.

As a result of this investigation, four computer devices were seized and are pending forensic analysis.

On July 3, 2015 Jason Rich, age 33 years, of Grand Bend Ontario was arrested and charged with two counts of Internet Luring and two counts of Invitation to Sexual Touching.

The accused was remanded in custody and is to attend a bail hearing today, July 3, 2015, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia, Ontario.

The OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit are asking the public to contact them at 705.330.3240 if they have had any dealing with a person online using the pseudo name JSLICE893.

The investigation is continuing.
