St. Basil Secondary School honoured it final graduating class Wednesday during a ceremony hosted at the Community Theatre Centre.

The school will close its doors as its consolidation with two other facilities - Holy Angels Learning Centre and St. Mary's College - prepares to move into a new home.

"Graduates, the doors of St. Basil Secondary close, but the spirit of St. Basil Secondary will forever live in you," said Guidance Councillor Judy Ritza during her address to the students. "You entered as friends. You leave now as family. Forever a Saint."

Graduate Nikki Ardito told SooToday her time at The Home of The Saints was enjoyable as she extended her family of friends.

"I feel great. It's nice to be part of how we celebrated the last graduation," she said.

Gab Nicholson, who will move on to study mathematical economics at Trent University, said: "This was pretty exciting and it will be nice to look back on."

Existing St. Basil Secondary School students will relocated to the new St. Mary's College facility currently under construction on Second Line at Pine Street in September 2015.
