Blind River man faces multiple sex-related charges

Blind River – On April 17, 2015, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment in Blind River received a report of a possible sexual assault.

As a result of their investigation, John Northway ASHDOWN, 69 years old, of Blind River has been charged with the following offences:

  • Sexual assault contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code,
  • Sexual interference contrary to section 151 of the Criminal Code and
  • Sexual exploitation contrary to section 153 of the Criminal Code (3 counts).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on June 4, 2015.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance and asking anyone with information about this crime or any crime to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or if you wish to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Victims of sexual abuse are not alone.
