Financial statements filed with the City of Sault Ste. Marie show Provenzano spent $34,504.50 on his campaign.
That figure is well below the limit of $57,091.55 issued by the city clerk for mayoral candidates.
The statements show Provenzano received $41,899 in contributions from supporters.
The list of contributors includes several businesses and lawyers as well as individual contributors.
Provenzano's campaign expenses include $22,847.40 on advertising, $4,175.59 on brochures and flyers and $5,344.14 on signs.
Former Mayor Debbie Amaroso spent the second highest amount of money during the campaign among mayoral candidates.
Amaroso spent $15,669.34 on her campaign, including $9,517.99 on advertising, $3,823.92 on brochures and flyers, and $1,377.43 from her previous mayoral campaign.
Amaroso received $17,197.19 in contributions, from five individual contributors.
Mayoral candidate Heather Cook spent $817.67 on her campaign, while another mayoral candidate, Robin Coull, spent $509.97 on his.
Austin Williams declared he had no expenses or contributions in his mayoral campaign.
Spending limits vary for ward candidates.
In each ward there is a base amount of $5,000 which is topped up based on the number of electors in each ward.
In Ward 1, Paul Christian spent $2,392.90 on his campaign, while Steve Butland spent $1,733.60.
Figures show Ward 2 Councillors Susan Myers and Terry Sheehan each spent over $4,000 on their campaigns.
In Ward 3, Judy Hupponen spent $3,280.39, while Matthew Shoemaker spent $8,384.23.
In Ward 4, Rick Niro spent $6,195.36, while his wardmate Lou Turco spent more than any other councillor, at $9,243.90.
Ward 5 Councillor Marchy Bruni spent $3,526.16, while Frank Fata spent $1,263.52.
In Ward 6, Joe Krmpotich spent $5,378.67, while his wardmate, Ross Romano, spent $6,959.20.
