H&M is about to open its latest Canadian store on Thursday as the international clothing retailer debuts its new location in Station Mall.

That is likely welcome news to style-conscious local kids.

“Little skinny jeans for kids, rock and roll T-shirts for kids, plaid shirts for kids. Whatever trend you find in the adult department you can also find in the kids collection," said Emily Scarlett, H&M Canada spokesperson.

This will be Northern Ontario’s first H&M and for the last two weeks, staff and a special prep team have been working feverishly to get it stocked full of clothing for all ages and tastes.

“It’s all about fashion and quality at the best price and being able to dress your personality, no matter what that is,” said Scarlett. “We really believe we have something for everybody no matter what your fashion style is or what trends you might be wanting to try for each season.”

H&M stores range in Ontario from around 15,000 square feet to nearly 40,000 so the Sault location, at just over 18,000 square feet, is considered medium sized, she said.

She said H&M looks for the right location when choosing a new store as well as a community with “good growth and (a) good demographic.”

The new store opens at 11 a.m. on Thursday and the first 200 customers in line will get an ‘access to fashion’ pass - a scratch card worth anywhere from $10 to $300.

There will be just one $300 card up for grabs, but plenty of chances to get your hands on denominations in between, said Scarlett.

SooToday had a sneak peak at the new store this morning and we put together the photo gallery below.
