The 2nd Annual 46th Parallel Music, Art & Media Festival took place this Friday and Saturday at a unique location.

Hosted downtown on the historic MS Norgoma, the festival had everything you’d expect from a rocking party, but with the calming sounds of water and serene waterfront in the background.

Local artists had their masterpieces on display, while the sounds of DJ Seith, the Pixo Control, K.I.C.K, Genevieve Rose and others joined in playing music for the seaworthy guests while they enjoyed drinks, snacks, and vintage video games.

Alex Woods and Josh Ingram from the 8:56 Group put the 46th Parallel Festival together.

They chose to set up this event in the Norgoma because of its unique atmosphere and its history.

“It’s a real historic landmark when it comes to Sault Ste. Marie, and we just thought ‘How could we take old pieces, under-utilized spaces and re-vitalize them in a way that people wouldn’t expect?'” said Woods.

Woods and Ingram want to keep utilizing this space in the future for gatherings and events like poetry readings.
