LAKE SUPERIOR MAGAZINE

****************************
In the new June/July issue of Lake Superior Magazine, the editors delve into regional consumers’ growing interest in locally crafted goods with features on coffee roasters and made-from-scratch bakeries, including several in northwestern Ontario.

Thunder Bay’s Great Northwest Coffee Company is just one of the local roasters meeting the demand for local, artisan-style food and drink.

Also in Thunder Bay, Sweet Escape Cake Café and Bakery, also in Thunder Bay, filled a hole in the market with its emphasis on local ingredients when it opened in 2013.

In the issue’s Lake Superior Journal, Tom Pink recounts a ride on the Algoma Central Railway and an excursion into the wilderness north of Sault Ste. Marie.

The issue’s photo feature dives underwater to see rare views of the history lurking beneath Lake Superior’s waves.

In a heritage story, readers meet Étienne Brûlé, the 17th-century French explorer who was one of the first Europeans to see Lake Superior.

The June/July issue of Lake Superior Magazine can be found at newsstands around the region, or order it online at www.LakeSuperior.com.
