Did he really want to be another John Bobbitt?
Did his barber shop quartet need a soprano?

The possible motivations for a theft done in this manner are endless
TFinn 4/16/2014 8:21:10 AM Report

Age 52 huh.??? ...geez ...I guess he needed some money for drugs ..(Viagra) couldn't resist ..!
edz 4/16/2014 8:24:34 AM Report

a cordless reciprocating saw down his pants may have had unexpected results.

is that a reciprocating saw in your pants or are you just happy to see me?

how the heck do you think a reciprocating saw can be hidden in a waistband, they're huge!

Must have been a him.

Sam C 4/16/2014 8:42:08 AM Report

He misunderstood what she meant by "show me your tool."
Zee1948 4/16/2014 8:44:26 AM Report

I guess what he already had in his pants just didn't cut it.

I try to avoid joining in on such ridiculous comments but I am completely at a loss why you folks would think this is an opportunity to act like "comedians". If you would do some deep research on shoplifting you might be educated that not all instances of shoplifting occur because people "need" money. There are other serious reasons why it happens. I wish you would all take your free time and use it more wisely, like volunteering proactively in your community or trying to expand your knowledge base through the internet instead of posting such comments. My family and friends at a distance are reading these types of comments and wondering just what kind of city Sault Ste. Marie is. Come on folks, you are all way better than this and there are alot of people out there in dire need of your energy and support. Please find better language to express your thoughts. As my grandmother would say: "If you can't say something nice, say nothing". It also comes to mind: "Treat others as you would like to be treated".

I SAW that coming!

Well said rlmac! Agree 100%
bigG47 4/16/2014 9:30:46 AM Report

I'm with you rimac! This constant 'verbal diahrea' does not reflect well on the Soo! Surely there is a better use for their time!
TFinn 4/16/2014 9:32:03 AM Report

You just know when SooToday puts out a story like this there's going to be comments abound. Some good old light-hearted jocularity never hurt anyone … just watch some of sitcoms and late night shows . People vent in different ways ..! lol
Bad Dawg 4/16/2014 9:40:01 AM Report

rlmac... I suppose any reason could be a serious reason. This bozo stole from a store and got CAUGHT!! Was not his first offence or will be his last. Yet you expect me to pour my heart out and feel sorry for some petty thief.... not a damn chance!! He is not a victim he is a repeat offender and should be getting help in jail!!!

He wasn't trying to steal food for his family. He is not any kind of victim!!
Sam C 4/16/2014 9:59:55 AM Report

rlmac... I can't speak for all of us, but I would say most of us DO understand. However, some situations just beg for a dose of humour. Really... sticking a saw down his pants. That is funny.
soo_fan_86 4/16/2014 10:16:29 AM Report

I have to agree with sam on this one... don't be so serious... sure its a disappointment reading people like this actually exist...but having a sense of humour lightens up the already negative posts... the news mostly emphasizes the negative things.. so relax... not to mention. .if you don't like the comments then don't read them.. afterall... here is some "deep research".. the guy stuck it down his pants.. i'm sorry, you just don't stick a tool down your pants all accidental... if a guy walked out with a tool and the cashier didn't swipe it properly.. totally different story...

Hey ladies - come on down to the reciprocation station!!!! loooooserrrr :)
westofthesoo 4/16/2014 11:07:01 AM Report

Ronald I hope you find help for your need to take things that don't belong to you! I really do! We should not judge people for using humour to express themselves. As for the SOO " it's great" my wife and I visit every year and always have a great time. Your casino gave us $2900.00. A kleptomaniac only brings shame on themselves if the don't pursue help. Maybe it's a mental issue? We should not judge!!!
edz 4/16/2014 11:26:26 AM Report

ya cut him a break
Frio 4/16/2014 11:53:18 AM Report

Some people have it much better when they feel entitled to steal hundreds of thousands of dollars over several years from their employer to feed their gambling habits..
westofthesoo 4/16/2014 11:54:43 AM Report

I didn't want to cut him off!
westofthesoo 4/16/2014 11:56:28 AM Report

Frio really!
Gurpy 4/16/2014 12:04:03 PM Report

You sound like a bleeding heart for all the law breakers in our society. Who cares what the motive is behind their illegal activity? Stealing is wrong regardless to the reason behind it. Our judicial system needs to start treating it in that manner. No more little slaps on the wrist. Get a strong message across the first time!
Bad Dawg 4/16/2014 12:43:53 PM Report

I agree with Gurpy...... time to start having more serious consequences, or any consequence for that matter. Tougher sentences for probation violators, Can't behave while on probation, or be a productive member of society, then sit in jail for your full sentence.
Mr E 4/16/2014 12:56:50 PM Report

Cut off a finger or a hand.. it'll stop :)
Ski-Dude 4/16/2014 1:56:23 PM Report

Ron, is that a saw in your pants? Or....
young guy 4/16/2014 7:30:34 PM Report

How the hell can you hide that in your pants??? I mean seriously! The thing is huge! I have a hard time too sometimes, but I don't have a sawzall down there!!!

Besides, if he 'needs' a sawzall so bad, he must have a decent enough job that requires him to own one....
