Free for teens during the month of May

Thursday, April 10, 2014   by: Staff

The Korah Branch of the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library, located at 556 Goulais Avenue, is pleased to host a number of activities for teens throughout the month of May.

On May 1 and 15, teens are invited to drop into the branch for an afternoon of free gaming featuring XBOX Kinect, Wii, and a variety of board games.

Thursday, May 8, the library will host a Mother's Day crafting event so teens can create that little something special for Mom.

Get your green thumb ready for a free gardening workshop on Thursday, May 22 where teens can paint their own pots and plant Spring flowers.

Wrapping up the month will be a movie night on May 29 during which the Library will screen Fast and Furious 6.

All of these Korah Branch teen events take place from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and are free to attend.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

For more information about these and other Sault Ste. Marie Public Library events and initiatives, please click here or call 705-759-5249.

Kids spent all winter inside, you think someone would have a creative idea and get them outside.
Get them off the couch, not invite the to it.

Great idea - wrong time of year.
January or February would have been better. I agree May - try to get them outside.

Seriously? People whine and complain that there is nothing for kids to do in this city and this is the response they get?

It's wet, muddy, still somewhat cold (sometimes with rain, snow or a mix of both) and melting dog crap everywhere! A couple of hours at a library will do WONDERS for a lot of kids in this city.

Shame on you guys for putting down people who are doing a good thing for children that are not even their own!!

Thank you to all of the volunteers that will be using their own free time to sponsor this. I think I know a few kids that will be attending. :)

Are you people for real? I think it's about time Soo Today looks at getting rid of this comment section. Most of these posters have nothing of any value to say. Most just sit back behind their computer screen and make useless comments . Shame on you.

How wonderful that these opportunities are being provided. Why so much negativity ?? You are not required to partake.

I wonder how many of these nay sayers ever volunteer to help out with anything?

I for one think it's awesome to find something that teens might enjoy gaming is huge with them and that Movies sounds cool too.

I think one of the best benefits to this sort of thing it that just maybe Teens who share activities might make a new Friend,or at least less inclined to beat each others heads in elsewhere .

Kudos to the People working to put this together .Phooey to the complainers.

Holy like really? I swear people are NOT happy unless they are complaining about something!! I feel sorry for you people always being so negative!! its positive thinking goes a lot farther!!! and at least they are doing something for the kids, giving them something to do constructive, instead of hanging around in the mall or down town!!!
