After snapping a three-game losing skid last Friday night, the Soo Greyhounds return to action on Wednesday night as they continue a five-game homestand as the Sudbury Wolves make their second appearance at the Essar Centre.

Wednesday marks the second meeting between the two clubs this season. The teams last met on Sept. 21 at the Essar Centre in the season opener for both clubs. The Greyhounds came away with a 10-3 win in the contest.

Jared McCann scored four times in the game while Sergey Tolchinsky also had a four-point night with a goal and three assists.

The Greyhounds have struggled of late with a single victory in their last four games. The team picked up a 5-3 win over Sarnia Friday night, which improved their record to 17-5-0-2 on the season.

The Greyhounds remain atop the OHL’s West Division with 36 points though their lead in the standings has diminished. The Saginaw Spirit are five points back of the Greyhounds with a 14-8-2-1 record while the Windsor Spitfires are in third and just six points with 15 wins in 24 games.

The Greyhounds have been dominant against the Wolves on home ice over the past five years, posting nine wins in 13 games and a 9-2-0-2 overall record.

The Wolves are third in the Central Division with 26 points, two points behind the Mississauga Steelheads and five points behind the division-leading Barrie Colts. The division is tight as the fourth-place North Bay Battalion are a single point behind the Wolves as four of the five teams in the division have .500 records.

The Wolves are coming off a 5-2 loss in Erie on Saturday night but have won two of three. The team has hovered around the .500 mark all season and currently sit at 10-9-3-3.

Other games around the league on Wednesday night include:

  • Belleville vs. Mississauga (7:05 p.m.)
  • Plymouth vs. Owen Sound (7:05 p.m.)
  • Saginaw vs. Windsor (7:11 p.m.)
