SAULT STE. MARIE, MI - Approximately 1,200 Cloverland Electric Cooperative members are without service. Cloverland Electric line crews began responding to widespread outages late Sunday as high winds swept through the area.

Numerous downed lines and trees on the lines have been reported.

Crews will continue working through the night, but power is not expected to be restored to all affected services until sometime Tuesday.

Two additional contractor crews are assisting Cloverland Electric line crews in the restoration efforts.

Some of the hardest hit areas include Eckerman, Paradise, Pickford, Brimley, Rudyard, Newberry, Moran-Trout Lake areas, Curtis and Germfask.

Cloverland Electric phone services have been impacted by the AT&T area phone service outage.

Until AT&T completes its repairs, members who have AT&T as their provider are asked to contact Cloverland by calling 906-635-6800.

For members served by a different provider, members can call 906-203-3304.

Cloverland is also using its automated meter reading system to determine what services are without power.

A signal is sent to the meter over the power lines.

An outage ticket is then created for non-responding meters.

Even if the member is unable to report the outage at their service location, Cloverland can use this technology to determine if the service is without power.

Cloverland members are cautioned to stay clear of any downed power line. Assume any downed line is energized and report it immediately.
