Busy weekend for Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Service responded to a total of 24 incident reports; two incidents are currently under investigation. 

During the early morning hours of October 20, 2012, Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services responded to the 200 block of Letcher Street for a vacant two-storey structure fire. 

A total of 13 responding firefighters brought the fire under control within 30 minutes of their arrival.  

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services conducted an investigation of the fire and determined it to be suspicious. 

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is currently following up the incident.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services responded to the 600 block of North Street for a structure fire during the early morning hours of October 21, 2012, after a neighbor reported smoke coming from the rear of this property. 

Fire Services personnel quickly extinguished the fire. 

This fire was also determined suspicious in nature. 

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is currently following up the incident.

There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services would like to remind residents to never leave flammable products accessible and to always secure them in a safe place.
