SAULT STE. MARIE - The Friends of the Ermatinger•Clergue National Historic Site and Canadian Heritage are proud to present 1812 Rendezvous - A Heritage Celebration of the local War of 1812 Alliance from September 20 – 23, 2012 at the Ermatinger•Clergue National Historic Site.
The 1812 Rendezvous is a living history event commemorating the union of the local British Garrison with First Nations, Metis and Voyageurs, along with local residents including Charles Oaks Ermatinger, in an effort to protect the area from American invasion.

This four-day heritage event features hands-on activities, entertainment, games, and demonstrations.
Cannon and musket drills, military encampments, and a voyageur/native area will also be highlighted.
The event runs from Thursday September 20 to Sunday September 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
Join us Friday, September 21 at 2:30 p.m. to witness the official lighting of the cannon by MP Brian Hayes and Mayor Debbie Amaroso.

Sudsy 9/19/2012 2:14:51 PM ReportHasn`t the government spent enough cash remembering a war that happened over 100 hundred years ago? how many millions have they spent already or should I say billions??
I`m sure the U.S is lol saying try dancing with us now little bro!
dravo 9/19/2012 3:40:29 PM ReportI can think of other matters that the government wastes there money on that happened a 100 years ago.
northbound1 9/19/2012 6:54:52 PM ReportIt was 200 years, and without that war, we wouldn't have a country. Perhaps the money would have been better spent on remedial math classes for you two.
Cam 9/20/2012 12:12:30 AM Reportnorthbound1- lol was thinking the same thing!
Sudsy 9/20/2012 9:47:01 AM ReportOUUUU, THIS IS GETTING HEAVY!;) Dishing out 30 million on re-enactments, TV commercials, coins and my fav a mobile app for smart phones, to celebrate the 200 (TWO HUNDRED) year anniversary of a war that most people can`t even identify by name, makes no sense during financially difficult times, where veteran affairs funding is getting cut amongst other public servant cuts.
To remember it, how about making sure it`s taught in school!!!
