At about 8:10 p.m. on Thursday witnesses near the Mac's convenience store on the corner of Second Line West and Goulais Avenue reported hearing a loud crash.
"We came running down here and saw them getting out," said one young woman as she gestured toward people standing or sitting on the ground near the two pick up trucks that collided.
The silver Toyota Tacoma sustained heavy damage to the front end and came to rest facing south in the northbound lane of Goulais Avenue, just south of the intersection.
The black Ford truck was off the road and had crossed over the sidewalk travelling south east onto a lawn near a bus shelter.
It also sustained damage to the front end, though not as severe.
Witnesses report that at least one ambulance attended at the scene but it left without picking up anyone from the scene.
There was also one motorcycle police officer as well as many Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services personnel on scene for some time after the crash.
Traffic was slowed and restricted to one lane on the south and west sides of the intersection but was able to pass the scene of the collision in all directions.
