Rally on Great Northern Road (video added)

The frustrations of tribal leaders in Ontario have passed boiling point.

The frustrations of tribal leaders in Ontario have passed boiling point.

Today's rally on Great Northern Road is just a small taste of what is to come this summer if the Provincial and Federal governments actions do not soon take a radically different direction says Batchewana First Nation Chief Dean Sayers.

Sayers was one of the leaders to speak at a rally that slowed traffic along Great Northern Road today over lunch time.

The rally was touched off by recent Provincial announcements of changes to social services programs that, in fact, result in severe cuts in funding to Anishinaabe communities and to other small Northern Ontario communities.

"Today you may miss your flight or not get your Purilator package in 24 hours but be prepared for much more," he told the hundreds of protestors from as far away as the Manitoba border communities and the most Northern Ontario communities with highway access.
