Three days of celebrating the Sault's cultural diversity

Passport to Unity, Sault Ste. Marie's annual multicultural festival, expands to three days this year and runs from May 4 to May 6, 2012.

Hosted by the Sault Community Career Centre, the festival celebrates the many diverse cultures and traditions that exist within Sault Ste. Marie.

The goal of this event is to foster a sense of inclusion and acceptance for the growing assorted populations that our community exhibits, and to develop a mutual relationship between all individuals.

Friday, May 4

Cultural Awareness Session - Algoma District School Board Grade 7 and 8 students - 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Grade 7 and 8 Cultural School Dance ($7 admission) - White Pines - 7 to 11 p.m.

Saturday, May 5

Cultural tour of Sault Ste. Marie - Visit the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre, the Sault Ste. Marie Museum, the Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site, and the Sault Community Career Centre ($12 admission includes all four sites) between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Night of Cultural Performances ($10 in advance, $15 at the door) - The Grand Theatre, 641 Queen Street East - 8 to 10:30 p.m.

Sunday, May 6

Passport to Unity ($2 admission) - Essar Centre event includes cultural food, music, dance, artwork and vendors - 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
