Friday, April 20, 2012   by: Donna Hopper

SooToday.com has learned that a trust fund for the family of Raymond Taavel has been set up by the owner of Menz and Mollyz in Halifax.

Taavel, a former Sault resident and well respected gay rights activist, was murdered outside the bar in the early morning hours of April 17.

The trust fund is intended to assist his family in covering funeral expenses and other final arrangements.

Donations may be made at any TD Canda Trust branch in Canada by depositing into account number 0036 – 6399950

A number of fundraisers and tributes are planned in the coming days, including those in Halifax and Sydney, Nova Scotia, and St. John's, Newfoundland.

Additional information about these and other initiatives created in Raymond Taavel's name may be found here.

If I can remember I worked with Raymond at Ponderosa way back in 1979-1980's.He was a hard worker, soft spoken, friendly person and his family needs our help as a community. Please help this trust fund every little bit counts.Thank you
