Methamphetamine and marijuana traffic stop seizure

MATTAWA, ON – A Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting general patrol on John Street in the town of Mattawa on March 31, 2012, when he stopped a vehicle travelling westbound at 11:25 a.m.

As a result of the traffic stop and further investigation, the officer seized 9.6 pounds of Methamphetamine (Speed) pills and another five pounds of suspected marijuana, as well as a sum of money. 

The drugs street values are estimated at approximately $150,000. 

36-year-old Luc Prince of Timmins, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offences:

• Trafficking Schedule II - cannabis marijuana over 3 kg, contrary to CDSA s. 5(1)

• Possession for the Purpose Schedule II over 3 kg, contrary to CDSA s. 5(2)

• Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada s. 354(1) (a)

• Possession for the Purpose Schedule I – Other Drugs, (Methamphetamine) contrary to CDSA s. 5(2)

• Trafficking Schedule I – Other Drugs, (Methamphetamine) contrary to CDSA s. 5(1).

Prince was held in custody pending a bail hearing on April 1, 2012.
