Friday at a meet-and-greet at Solo Trattoria, the Board of Directors of the Downtown Association were pleased to announce and welcome Tasha Varpio as the new Manager of the association.

 

Friday at a meet-and-greet at Solo Trattoria, the Board of Directors of the Downtown Association were pleased to announce and welcome Tasha Varpio as the new Manager of the association. 
 
"I see an incredible potential," said Varpio (shown with Downtown Association Chair Bill Watts) in regards to Queen Street and the downtown.
 
Representatives from local non-profits, charities, festivals, and of course downtown business and property owners, came out to welcome Tasha and discuss the past, present, and future of business and culture in the downtown.
 
"I'm excited to meet all the business owners, property owners and entrepreneurs," said Varpio. "We all have our own vision of how the downtown should look and operate and I'm eager to discuss that vision with our membership."
 
Tasha brings much experience in management of communications, special events and small business. 
 
Varpio served as a communications officer at Sault Area Hospital and at Manulife Financial as well as being an associate producer of Design for Living with Kimberly Sheldon, and editor and publisher of Blonde magazine.
 
“Tasha has a passion for our city and is enthusiastic about the opportunity to give back and help grow a vibrant and successful downtown business area,” said Watts.
 
Varpio officially takes the role of manager as of Monday, February 13 and looks forward to tasks at hand in promoting the downtown as the destination of quality, local service. 
 
The Sault Downtown Association, a Business Improvement Association, represents the businesses along Queen Street between Pim Street to Dennis Street and works to promote the downtown as a great economically-viable place to operate a business. www.saultdowntown.com
