Local Immigration Partnership hosts 'Welcoming Diversity' Forum on February 9

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON (January 24, 2011) -  The Sault Ste. Marie Local Immigration Partnership is hosting a “Welcoming Diversity” Immigration Forum on February 9, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Comfort Suites and Conference Centre located at 229 Great Northern Road.

Funded by the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the forum will provide information about cultural diversity initiatives undertaken locally, provincially and nationally as well as immigration trends occurring in Ontario.

Guest speakers include:

• Ontario Fairness Commissioner Jean Augustine

• Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration Statistical Analyst Nelson Palacio

Initiatives and programs in place to assist immigrants to Sault Ste. Marie and Ontario will be highlighted.

Participants will be introduced to various agency projects including cultural competency workshops led by Sault College.

Learn how to attract and support international students through culturally diverse programming.  

Participants will also have the opportunity to meet with local service providers and cultural clubs to receive information about what they offer and how to get involved.
