*************************
Hello my name is Jordan Gauthier and I wanted to issue a problem that has been affecting our youth and this problem is going to keep escalating until another terrible thing happens.

Over the last year there have been countless suicides in our country and all over the world.

The reason why I'm addressing this is because I've been bullied for years during grade and high school and I've had enough.

Kids are cruel and selfish and don't think about others before they say something.

I remember going to school and being called some of the most hurtful things.

I'm not going to stand here and let it happen any longer.

I want the world to see how it affects us through our eyes, not through paper or letter.

Yes, I am writing a letter, but I will be doing more then this.

I'm going to start a video blog about my life experiences and other kids live's who were affected by this terrible crime.

I want people to see that these are people and not just news headlines.

People cared for them and now they're no longer here.

Bullying effects millions world-wide, and thousands if not more take thier own life.

It doesn't matter what race you are or who you love, what you wear or if you're fat ,thin, rich or poor.

It's the person on the inside that matters.

I hope while you read this, you can see the pain it had caused families and friends of the loved ones they had lost over bullying.

I'm standing up and not going to rest until this stops.

I'm only one person, but that's all you need to start a domino effect to change our world.

I'm sick of reading that people had ended thier life due to being called a hurtful name, or being beat up because someone doesn't like the person you are.

I know one thing.

If we stand up we can fight this problem and stop it once and for all.

I was watching a show on how bullying affects the community even if one person is bullied.

They had said that it affects the family, the friends, the schools, the people who live down the street.

People who are bullied are more likely to use and abuse drugs and alcohol, which is another problem with our youth.

There are many resources like the Kids Help Phone - or a teacher - your parents.

But most people don't talk about it because they blame themselves and think that it's thier fault why they're being bullied.

It's not your fault.

I can not stress that enough.

It's never the victim's fault.

I hope that you can see more clearly that our youth is our future, and if one more life is taken you will see that these were people not statistics.

Thank you for taking your time and reading what I feel so strongly about, and please talk to your kids about these issues because it starts with you and your children who can and will make a huge difference where we live.

Yours truly,

Jordan Gauthier, 18.
