SooToday.com: doing news more differently

Friday, November 25, 2011   by: SooToday.com Staff

In case you didn't notice, we've freshened up our look at SooToday.com.

The first thing our loyal readers will probably notice is the cleaner, more inviting layout of the main page.

Then next thing you'll likely notice are the new headlines on our main news page.

The sports page has come home and we've added national news to the main page as well.

But the biggest change we've made is to make it easier for you to tell us what you think of the stories and releases we post.

As reader comments and discussion of stories we've had lately have proved, our readers have a lot of interesting and intelligent things to add to developing stories.

Scroll down.

See that comment section at the bottom of this page?

Yup, there's one just like it the bottom of every page we publish now (with the exception of the national news stories).

Of course we'll be checking in to see who's been naughty and who's been nice.

And we're hoping you'll help out by reporting posts that are off topic, defamatory or racist.

Now you can come back often to see what your friends and neighbours are saying about our proudly local, fiercely independent news.

Went for a tour - I'm impressed, for a news hound I'm liking the national news versus local - Great work guys and gals!

Yup... clean, crisp and under control. Finally a website design change that doesn't suck and require you to "learn" how to navigate it.

I don't think your English teacher would be very happy with "more differently"!....
Laser 11/25/2011 12:37:21 PM Report

Nice change, more organized!
jannagp 11/25/2011 1:09:03 PM Report

Maybe the next change should be a better David Orazietti picture? Instead of that giant, weirdly cropped one that pops up in every Orazietti article... LOL!
Smith_BFD 11/25/2011 1:42:57 PM Report

I like the "retro" look when you read the articles... Almost looks as though you're reading a news paper.

Very nicely done.

I like it! One further improvement: please remove the Highland Ford ad that keeps popping up on the bottom of the screen. I do not need to see it on every page AND when it pops up it resets my screen to the top of the page. VERY IRRITATING!

Oops, my bad, that was my post for The Sault Star website!
SooToday is great!

I like the new set up but your headings are too big for the blue shading. Would you pls make the print smaller so if fits.
