Queen Street shops plan day-after-Black-Friday event

The Queenstown BIA and its merchants will be, for the first time, taking part in Shop The Neighbourhood, a free annual initiative of Yellow Pages created in 2013 to encourage support for small businesses (SME) through local shopping.

Shop The Neighbourhood will take place on Saturday, November 28, between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, two shopping days notorious for driving dollars online or across the border.

Shop The Neighbourhood will also feature exclusive deals at local businesses to encourage supporting local small businesses. 

Local small business is responsible for well over 50% of employment in our community, and they in turn support other local small businesses, which continue to drive the local economy.

Our merchants constantly face new challenges, so Shop The Neighbourhood is a great initiative that helps small businesses stand out and that highlight the importance of supporting local.

Our participating merchants have special promotions for the day; we hope to see you on Queen.

Small businesses add vitality to our neighbourhoods and main streets and it is essential that we support them.

We hope that people will shop locally on November 28 and show their support for their local businesses.

Scheduled during the busiest shopping time of the year, Shop The Neighbourhood sheds light on the important impact that money spent locally can have, directly benefiting our neighbourhoods and communities. 

In 2014, over 750,000 Canadians joined the Yellow Pages campaign, spending $89 million at local businesses during the Shop The Neighbourhood event.
