Do you remember 'Betsy Wetsy?' (8 photos)

If you were a child back in the early 1960s, chances are Mom and Dad bought you a rocking horse such as this one to enjoy. The item is one of many on display at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum as part of its new exhibit entitled 'Childhood Memories.

If you were a child back in the early 1960s, chances are Mom and Dad bought you a rocking horse such as this one to enjoy.

The item is one of many on display at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum as part of its new exhibit entitled 'Childhood Memories.'

The exhibit officially opens December 1 and runs until March 2016, most of the items on display drawn from the museum's own rich, fascinating collection of items from years gone by.

'Childhood Memories' includes an Atari console and video games from the 1980s, which seem archaic and somewhat comical considering the sophistication of today's video games (you know you're middle-aged when you can actually remember Atari games as 'new').

The exhibit features a collection of strollers, some of them for real babies, others for baby dolls (in both cases, the strollers are very old).

There are old bicycles on display, quite primitive compared to those children ride today.

Ladies, do you remember the original Easy-Bake Oven from when you were little girls?

'Childhood Memories' has one of those, along with the legendary 'Slinky.'

An accompanying video presentation put together by museum staff includes old TV commercials for toys, some of them produced in the 1950s when TV was in its infancy.

One of them features a young girl playing with her 'Betsy Wetsy' doll valued at $5.95.

Others promote toy machine guns (one of which produces 'smoke' upon firing, sold for $3 by Mattel).
