Firefighters battle Church Street blaze (5 photos)

Firefighters were called to a serious house fire on Church Street early this morning. Five trucks from the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Service were called to the scene around 4:30 a.m.

Firefighters were called to a serious house fire on Church Street early this morning.

Five trucks from the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Service were called to the scene around 4:30 a.m.

Fire officials on scene said the home was vacant at the time and no one was injured.

The building, which is listed for sale, suffered extensive damage to the upper floors.

Firefighters and city police were still on scene as of 7:30 a.m.

The cause is still under investigation.
