Vandals kick in church doors, smash plaster Jesus

BATCHEWANA FIRST NATION – On October 31, 2015 Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended at the Old Mission Church on the Batchewana First Nation in Goulais Township regarding a mischief complaint.

The doors to the Church had been kicked in. 

A large plaster statue of the “Mother Mary” had been removed from the inside of the Church and placed in the middle of the roadway.  

Also located outside the Church was another smashed statue of “Jesus” and table linen from within the Church. 

Several broken bottles of alcohol and empty egg cartons were located on the front steps of the Church.

This incident occurred during the evening of October 30, 2015. 

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.
