Northern Ontario well represented at film festival

Two features and several shorts from Canada are among the films selected for the 2015 Soo Film Festival and all have Ontario connections.

All Hallows Eve: October 30th is a horror film set in the woods.
 
Director Ryan Byrne and most of the cast are from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
 
It will screen Sunday, September 13, at 10 p.m.

The award-winning The Road to Tophet is a twisty crime drama concerning cross-border drug trade.
 
The film was set and shot in Northern Ontario with Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario actor Matt Connors.
 
It will screen Sunday, September 13, at 7:30 p.m.
 
Director Steve Schmidt is expected to attend.

The shorts A Place Like Home, My Annoying Friend, Driving to Nowhere, and here we go, were all made in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
 
Two Wolves director Jonathan Elliot was raised on the Six Nations reserve in Southern Ontario.
 
Son in the Barbershop director Nathan Douglas grew up near Lake Ontario.

“The mission of the festival is to showcase Great Lakes film and to have so much of it come from right here is very exciting,” said festival vice president Jason Markstrom.

The 2015 Soo Film Festival is September 11-13 at the historic Soo Theatre in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
